Isaac Cruz Sets his Sights on Ryan Garcia!

During a recent social media post, lightweight fighter Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz (25-2-1, 17 KO’s) is hunting his next fight. If given his choice, as indicated in his post, Cruz called out the very visible junior welterweight “King Ry” Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KO’s). Currently, Garcia is riding high off his latest win over Oscar Duarte, which came by way of eighth round knockout.

With the win, King Ry was able to hop back in the win column following his lone professional loss to WBA 135-pound champion Abdul “Tank” Wahid. Similarly, Pitbull suffered his last professional loss to Tank as well, only Cruz lost by twelve-round unanimous decision.

In fact, the fans and a number in the industry felt the winds of fate were blowing toward Tank vs Cruz 2. This is because Team Tank repeatedly conducted interviews expressing their desire to dance with Cruz. Seeing as how Pitbull is shopping for alternative dance partners, it doesn’t appear that Wahid and his crew are looking his way.

“For my next fight in April, I would like to face Ryan Garcia. I want to emphasize that both Ryan and I want the fight. Our managers agree and our promoters also agree. Both of our promoters are also in agreement. Everyone also agrees that this is a wonderful fight.”

THE DOUBLE BACK?

This declaration seems rather strange given that at the moment King Ry is chasing down a fight with WBA junior welterweight champion Rolando “Rolly” Romero. Unfortunately for Garcia, Romero has yet to publicly reciprocate the same pugilistic desire as King Ry.

Naturally, this could be mere posturing and their two teams may be working feverishly behind the scenes to make the duel. Or, Rolly really doesn’t care to fight, in which case Garcia would have seriously played himself. If Golden Boy is unable to make that showdown a reality, then maybe Pitbull may be next in line for Garcia.

Just earlier this year, King Ry was calling for a duel with Cruz. So, if Garcia finds himself in need of a dance partner, the scrappy fighter could make for a suitable opponent. First however, we must see if Garcia secures the fight with Romero because, if he fails, then Cruz just may hit the jackpot.
