Anticipation Begins for Champion vs Champion mega-fight between Jackie Nava and Mariana Juarez!
In front of her hometown crowd in Tijuana, Jackie Nava defeating Carolina Alvarez to become a bantamweight champion for the first time since 2005.
Nava wasted little time in establishing dominance. From the start of the bell, it was clear who the better fighter was. Nava effectively employed sharp counters, excellent footwork, and combination punching ending with the left hook or body shot.
She was aggressive each round, landing hard rights over her opponent’s jab. Turning it up in the seventh, Nava doubled up on the left hook. Her success in slipping punches and side stepping, coupled with heavy counters prompted the corner to halt the fight.
Since her return from the long layoff in 2017, there has been no slowing down. Now there is the potential mega-fight against WBC champion Mariana Juarez to consider. The stage is set in what can be described only as a unification bout between two great champions.
Juarez at 38 years-old, made her sixth successful title defense by defeating the tough Susie Ramadan by unanimous decision October 27.
Fans and pundits alike agree this will be one of the most anticipated match-ups in women’s boxing history!
