Jared Anderson Feeling Unstoppable Ahead of Hometown Fight with Kossobutskiy
While only being about three and a half years into his professional career, heavyweight fighter Jared “Big Baby” Anderson (14-0, 14 KO’s) is headlining a hometown card. On July 1, Anderson will face the challenge of Zhan Kossobutskiy (19-0, 18 KO’s) in the belly of Toledo, Ohio’s Huntington Center. Ranked #7 (WBO), #8 (WBA) and #11 (WBC), Big Baby is not worried about anything that Kossobutskiy may throw at him. As he told ThaBoxingVoice, despite the Kazakhstani’s substantial knockout ratio, Anderson, believes he prevails convincingly.
“I watched a few fights of him. I don’t really watch fights though, so I probably watched thirty seconds of it. I’ve seen he a southpaw, I think he slower than most, just another fight!”
ALL OUT OF BUBBLEGUM!
The upcoming duel will actually mark Anderson’s second match of the year. Back on April 8, Big Baby snuffed his latest victim, George Arias, in just three short rounds. For Anderson, that was actually one of his lengthier matches. The longest he’s ever gone professionally has been six rounds. Only four of his fourteen adversaries making it past the second period. Pushed by Bob Arum’s powerhouse promotional company Top Rank, Big Baby is more than excited and believes this is just the very beginning of a very bright future.
“I’m happy that Bob [Arum] has the confidence in me. I am excited to show him that his confidence in me is right and I’m going to prove him right and prove the world wrong that I can’t do it and everybody who ever doubted me. With me and him on the same team, we can’t be stopped. I’m planning to take over the world and like you said, go all over the world kicking ass!”
As all true boxing fans know, hometown fights can often lead to disaster for the local boxer. All too frequently, the home fighter gets overly caught up in trying to please the crowd. This has led to disaster for more fighters than can be easily counted. Said to say, Jared Anderson will have to be careful to stay on his A-game. One wrong move or poor performance can derail or significantly set back all the momentum that he presently has going. So, let’s wait and see how the bright lights distract or motivate Big Baby come fight night.
