Jared Anderson showed why he’s an American heavyweight of true promise!
Jared Anderson (8-0, 8 KOs) showed boxing fans why he’s next American Heavyweight prospect to keep an eye on. The product of Toledo, Ohio displayed all kinds of talent en route to a sixth round knockout over Kingsley Ibeh (5-2-1, 4 KOs) at the MGM Grand Bubble in Las Vegas, Nevada.
At 6’4” and 249 pounds, the 21 year-old has unusual athleticism for a man his size. He gained control early with his jab, foot movement, and hand speed. Moving around the ring with ease, he kept Ibeh flustered early and often.
The pace that Anderson set early continued throughout. As the rounds went, the domination continued. Ibeh started to show the effects of the punishment as he was bleeding heavily from the nose.
A scheduled six-round contest, the question became whether Anderson would keep his knockout streak intact? That was answered with an emphatic “yes” in the final round.
With forty-five seconds to go in the final round, Anderson connected with a straight right, left hook combination that put Ibeh flat on his back. No count needed! The fight was a wrap and correctly stopped.
This is the kind of performance from Anderson that’s eye-catching. During the post-fight interview, he displayed personality as well. He said moving forward, he wants to keep improving by staying active.
Many pundits believe Anderson to be the next great American heavyweight. If he keeps improving with every fight as he steps-up in competition, they may be right!
