Jermall Charlo Willing to Throwdown with Canelo in his Backyard of Mexico

After a short period of reflection, boxing superstar and undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (57-1-2, 39 KO’s) made a very significant decision. The redhead was presented with two different pairs of lucrative prizefights.

The first would have pit him against David Benavidez and WBC middleweight champion Jermall “Hit Man” Charlo (32-0, 22 KO’s) from the PBC camp. Or, Alvarez had the option for a trilogy bout with IBF middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin and WBA Super light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol. History has recorded that the undisputed champion selected the DAZN combo meal of Bivol and Golovkin.

I’LL COME TO YOUR HOME!

Despite getting passed up on this go-around, Jermall Charlo is not crying into his oatmeal too severely. To begin, his chasing (and not getting) the fight with the undisputed champion is nothing new to him. And as he explained to EsNews, not only is he faithful that he’ll get a shot, the Hit Man believes he could stage the dream match in Canelo’s Mexican backyard.

“Yeah, I would go out there and fight in Mexico, if that’s what they wanted to do. I just want to get in the ring and fight him to shut everyone up, to shut up all the naysayers and doubters. It’s only a matter of time!”

WHAT WILL THE FUTURE HOLD?

Even if Charlo was fated to secure the big dustup with Canelo, clearly it will not be for some time. Obviously, the redhead has two fight obligations to fulfill with Bivol and Golovkin. There is a very prevalent belief that Alvarez will run through the older and all but completely irrelevant Golovkin.

The bout with Bivol is more of an intriguing toss-up than the GGG bout, however. So, let’s first see how the redhead deals with those challenges before we can see what conflict Charlo and Canelo can engage in.
