Jermall Charlo and Demetrius Andrade Agree to Fight This Fall
WBC middleweight champion Jermall “Hit Man” Charlo (32-0, 22 KO’s) and two-division champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (32-0, 19 KO’s) recently facetimed one anther to essentially make a fight. If the two pugilists carry their verbal agreement to fruition, they have agreed to fight for ten rounds at a catchweight of 165. The duel would take place somewhere in Texas, most likely Houston, around September or October. This also flies in the face of the recent rumor that Saul “Canelo” Alvarez was close to penning a match with Charlo.
The fact that the two got on the phone, shared a fairly jovial exchange and came to terms speaks volumes. The Charlo’s have maintained a near decade-long disdain for Andrade. Their animosity dates well back to 2014 when Boo Boo bowed out of a fight with Jermell Charlo for financial reasons. Since that incident, the Charlos have openly called for the Rhode Island native to be blacklisted. Clearly, Jermall Charlo has evolved past that mind state.
“Let’s do it in September!”
BEST VERSUS THE BEST
Andrade is just one fight, versus Demond Nicholson, into his new residency at super middleweight. Boo Boo has long called for fights with all the top fighters in whatever division he was in. Unfortunately for him, he was never answered by any of the big dogs until now. And it just may be the perfect time for Andrade to land this prizefight with a potentially rusty Hit Man.
For his part, Charlo has been out of the ring for two solid years. There would be no great shock if Hit Man has a rusty or less that polished showing. Yet, before we worry too much about hypothetical outcomes, let’s just make sure this becomes reality and not just a gab session between fighters.
“That’s what I am saying, they are going to look out for us bro! Whatever we want, they are going to do!”
