Jermell Charlo Admits he Hit a Woman in Leaked Audio

Unified junior middleweight champion Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo (35-2-1, 19KO) is making headlines on social media after news of his recent arrest for misdemeanor assault surfaced. However, the Texan has gone viral over a leaked audio of his admission to striking a woman.

“Let me say this off the rip, let me say this off the rip. Change your mind, change your mind. What I’m really saying is she plays big tough girl, but she pussy . . . I thought she was tough bro . . . I hit that bitch like this – POW- in the eye, socked her in the eye. Big, swollen, purple, can’t open, and that bitch called the cops on me like a woman. Like a regular woman.”

The boxing community has not forgiven Charlo for that lackluster performance against undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. So, one can imagine the backlash will hit like a tsunami with him sounding shocked the alleged victim called the police.

HE HAS BEEN DOWN THIS PATH IN THE PAST

Charlo’s comments stem from reports of his recent arrest over the weekend, where he allegedly assaulted a family member, and has since been released. In addition, news outlets reported that he assaulted a family member, and some fans are speculating it was his wife.

This incident is not Charlo’s first brush with assault charges against a woman. According to ESPN, he was acquitted of domestic violence against then-girlfriend Jazmyne Olison in 2019.

Charlo’s brazen comments captured on tape may have serious consequences for his career. They potentially can also serve as damning evidence, if the case goes to trial. His seemingly unremorseful tone could further complicate his legal situation and public image.
