Joet Gonzalez Defeats Arnold Khegai By SD
In a featherweight battle, Joet Gonzalez (27-4, 15KO) scored a huge win over WBO #2 rated Arnold “Arni” Khegai (22-2-1, 14KO).
In the early rounds, Arni attacked the body with hooks and uppercuts. He found a rhythm with repeated right hands as Gonzalez’s head never moved off the centerline. Yet, Gonzalez turned things around by fighting behind the jab and scoring with the straight right hand.
He controlled the middle rounds by keeping the fight at mid-range. In addition, he did a great job of moving his arms in the clinch as the referee took a point away from Khegai in the fifth round.
Both men fought hard down the stretch while bleeding like a faucet. Khegai landed several hard right hands and shots to the body. Gonzalez’s right eye flowed like a river but he attacked with fast combination punches.
Gonzalez closed the show strong with hard body shots and landed the more eye-catching punches. When the final bell sounded, one judge had it 95-94 for Khegai, while the other two judges scored it 97-92 and 96-93 for Gonzales.
