John Fury Banned!

Amidst his anticipated clash with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury will not have his dad in his corner. The debilitating news stems from John Fury’s criminal past. Namely, his 2011 conviction for pulling Oathie Skye’s eye out in an altercation between the two men.

His original prison sentence was eleven years. However, in 2015 he was released after serving just four. For this reason, American authorities have denied the former heavyweight champion’s father a visa to enter the country in December.

Since being released from prison, John has attended every one of his son’s bouts and plays an intricate role on his team. Boxing fans will remember his widely publicized “shouting match” with Deontay Wilder in August.

To the amusement of onlookers, the two men verbally insulted one another at the Fury vs Pianeta weigh-in. Getting under his son’s opponents skin is where “Big John” seems to be a specialist.

For the “Gypsy King”, however, it will make things a bit tougher as he prepares for the fight of his career.

It will be interesting to see if this will play a role in the psyche of Fury as he enters the Staples Center December 1!
