Anthony Joshua Recalls Previous Negotiations with Team Fury

Boxing fans are heavily frustrated with the ongoing drama over the undisputed showdown between unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13KO) and WBC champion Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (33-0-1, 24KO). Two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony “AJ” Joshua (24-3, 22KO) can relate to fans’ frustration after failed dealings with the WBC champion in the past.

Joshua has been on the receiving end of negotiating with the teams of both champions, Fury and Usyk. According to the Daily Star, the two-time unified champion went down memory lane about his experience dealing with The Gypsy King.

“I was supposed to fight him [Tyson Fury] before I fought Usyk the first time, and he pulled out due to his legal case, the arbitration with Wilder. That was all up in the air and done online. Then we had the one for this December.”

“Look at all the shit they are going through now with this Usyk stuff. It’s just crazy. I don’t publicize things, so it’s actually good that people are starting to see what goes on in negotiations.”

“It’s good that people can actually see the shit that people have got to put up with to make a fight. Me and Usyk got two successful fights done. It’s just crazy.”

That last statement is something several pundits and fans have echoed throughout the boxing community.

Joshua is preparing to return to the ring with Trainer of the Year Derrick James against Jermaine Franklin on April 1 at the O2 arena.
