Anthony Joshua gearing the fans up to be ready for a trilogy!

If you don’t know the story of arguably one of the biggest upsets of 2019 that shook up the heavyweight division, then please explain what world have you been living in.

It was June 1st when unlikely replacement Andy “Destroyer” Ruiz Jr (33-1, 22KO) defied the odds by becoming the first Mexican heavyweight champion in history on only four weeks notice! After being knocked down early, he recovered by dropping then unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua four times en route to a seventh round stoppage.

This event turned boxing upside down in a way very few people still can’t believe. Now with the much-anticipated rematch set for December 7 in Saudi Arabia, the entire boxing community is intrigued to see if Ruiz can once again pull off another victory. However, there is one person that feels even if the Mexican champion losses, we could see a trilogy.

Joshua believes that even in defeat this won’t be the last we see of his counterpart in a title fight. During his media workout in an interview with Sky Sports he gave a very insightful explanation.

“He’s (Ruiz) been on my mind prior to June 1st, cause that’s when he came in as a replacement. He’s is going to be on my mind forever cause all of these boys were all going to fight anyway.

“Me and Andy Ruiz, if he’s dedicated to the game we will definitely see each other a third time down the line. This isn’t going to be the last time I see Andy Ruiz in the ring.

“I think we make for good fights. I think there’s definitely going to be a knockout in that fight as well.”

Is the former world champion correct?

The answer may be yes!

One thing is for certain, the heavyweight division is alive a pumping serious blood into the sport. Boxing is at it’s best when the big boys come out to play!
