Joe Joyce set to face former heavyweight titlst Bermane Stiverne
After calling out the likes of Jarrell Miller and Luis Ortiz, Joe Joyce (7-0, 7KOs) will finally get in the ring with a familiar name.
Former WBC champion Bermane Stiverne will by far be the most significant name on the resume of the 2016 Olympic silver medalist. Their fight will be apart of the James DeGale versus Chris Eubank Jr undercard on February 23 in the O2 Arena.
Joyce last fought in December on the Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury under-card, where he scored a one round knockout victory over Joe Hanks.
As for Stiverne (25-3-1, 21KOs) he hasn’t fought in over a year since being stopped in one round by WBC champion Deontay Wilder in November 2017.
At one point, this fight would’ve been deemed as a good competitive fight for both men. However, given the inactivity and recent outings from Stiverne, it may more likely be a mismatch.
At 40 years old, he hasn’t look good in quite sometime. Maybe (being the operative word) he’ll be able to turn back the clock, get in shape and provide a stern test for Joyce.
