Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Arrested in LA for Illegal Gun Possession

As reported by TMZ, former cruiserweight fighter Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (53-6-1, 34 KO’s) was arrested for illegal gun possession over the weekend in LA. According to the report, an alarmed fan felt as if Jr. might have been a danger to himself or the general public, and therefore swiftly called the authorities.

After their arrival, Jr. was quickly taken into custody. Once apprehended, it was discovered that Chavez Jr. was in possession of an untraceable weapon. This is likely to only increase the current severity of the situation. Although, it is unclear what will take place at this point in time.

A HISTORY OF NEGLIGENCE

Unfortunately, this is far from the first time that Jr., son of boxing royalty and living legend Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., has run into serious problems. Sadly, Chavez Jr. has been something of a professional disappointment for the majority of his career.

He was arrested and issued three misdemeanors related to a DUI back in 2012, Jr. was suspended from the sport in 2013 for having marijuana in his system. Later, Chavez Jr. would be suspended for refusing a drug test in 2019 and he was arrested again in an incident back in January of 2022.

At this point, the troubled fighter has been out of action since his December 18, 2021 duel versus David Zegarra, and even that was smeared with controversy. Truthfully speaking, any hope that the 37-year-old fighter may make a last run has been extinguished. Now, let’s hope that everything smooths out in what seems to be Chavez Jr.’s very turbulent life.
