George Kambosos Believes He Emotionally Dismantled Teofimo Lopez
Prior to his bout with Teofimo “Take Over” Lopez (16-1, 12 KO’s), unified lightweight champion “Ferocious” George Kambosos (20-0, 10 KO’s) felt that Lopez would falter come fight night. In the end he was 100% correct. Kambosos was adamant there were many reasons for what led to the Take Over’s downfall. Improper preparation, media distractions and looking past him were all major contributors to what ultimately transpired.
Now, in a recent interview, Lopez himself has admitted he has been suffering a good measure of mental strain throughout the year. Unsurprisingly, Ferocious definitely feels he was a heaping helping of what was troubling the former champion. He shared this sentiment while being interviewed live on DAZN prior to the Devin Haney vs Joseph Diaz prizefight.
“I broke Teofimo down emotionally months before the fight!”

At the present time, it is very unknown what is to become of Teofimo Lopez. The division he wants to compete in, next opponent and generic mental status are all matters tossed high in the air. As fans and spectators, all we can do is wish him the best and hope he does not shrink away from the sport or harm himself or others.
As for Kambosos, the sky is the limit! With his single win over Lopez, all the eyes in the division are firmly fixed upon him. Going by popular belief and expectations, Ferocious will next make his first title defense in his homeland of Australia. The fans want the fight to be against Haney. However, he must retain his WBC title against Diaz first!
