Katie Taylor Resolute on Winning Chantelle Cameron Rematch
The highly-anticipated rematch between undisputed junior welterweight champion Chantelle Cameron (18-0, 8 KO) and undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor (22-1, 6 KOs) will occur on November 3 at 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. Taylor is on a mission for revenge by any means necessary.
They previously fought on May 20 at the same venue. It was supposed to be a triumphant homecoming for Taylor. But Cameron played the role of spoiler, winning by a close unanimous decision. At the kickoff press conference for the rematch, Taylor talked to the boxing media about the importance of this upcoming bout.
“I’m very aware that this is a must-win fight, and I’m just very grateful to have a chance at the rematch. […] I have a chance to rectify things and make things right.”
“I know how to make the necessary adjustments. I know how to come back strong . . . The resurrection is built into my mindset; it’s in my DNA. I’m just excited to have this rematch and I can’t wait to step in there.”
REFUSING TO BOW-DOWN
Having won their first bout, Cameron is coming in full of confidence. The 140-pound champion believes that Taylor can’t hurt her and plans to be even more aggressive when they fight again. In response to Cameron’s comments, the Irish native said the following:
“I’m going to have to make a few adjustments, but I believe that I will win this fight. I don’t believe that Chantelle can hurt me, either. We shared ten rounds together. It was a great, great fight. We’re both stepping into the ring super confident.”
Taylor insisted that she wasn’t at her best in their first bout. She plans to be on her A-game in November in what she said is the biggest fight of her career.
