Katie Taylor Eagerly Invokes The Rematch Clause Against Chantelle Cameron
Following a fun and competitive prizefight, undisputed super lightweight champion Chantelle “Il Capo” Cameron (18-0, 8 KO’s) successfully defended her titles against undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor (22-1, 6 KO’s).
With each entering the match undefeated, the two fierce competitors went head-to-head with one another for the entire ten rounds of the contracted fight.
Unfortunately for Taylor, however, the superior size and weight of Cameron proved to be much of the difference in the duel. The Irish champion got off to an early lead utilizing her swift hands and dazzling combinations. As the prizefight continued, Cameron was able to absorb the smaller woman’s offense without much consequence and land the seemingly bigger punches. As a result the UK born fighter was forced to prevail by majority decision to the tune of 95/95 and 96/94 (twice).
“Yeah I was petrified, I’ve seen it before in boxing and it happened to my team before, so yeah I wasn’t going to get the decision. It was a close decision, Katie is a great fighter, pound for pound best women’s boxer there is and I turned up for the occasion!”
