Kovalev admits mistakes made against Eleider Alvarez.

Former WBO light-heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (32-3-1, 28 KOs) admits that listening to his trainers is very important and vows to do so in the rematch with now WBO champion Eleider Alvarez.

The Russian fighter states one of his biggest problems is training too hard. The former champ admits that at times he pushes himself too hard, resulting in his stamina issues.

Kovalev also opened up about losing some weight before the weigh-in. He states this as a factor that made his legs feel like spaghetti prior to the fight.

This could explain why it was hard to recover from the first knockdown. However, this time around, preparation is different.

He states:

“This is big motivation for me. It will be my last chance to get back into high level.

“I have Miguel who has good experience and I agreed that if he stops me to send me home for a few days.

“I am listening to everyone who are telling me smart things.”

The rematch with WBO champion Eleider Alvarez is another one of the highly anticipated fights for 2019!
