Adam Kownacki makes quick work of Gerald Washington in two rounds!
Well that was quick! Undefeated polish heavyweight contender Adam Kownacki made absolute quick work of former title challenger Gerald Washington.
In the opening round, the powerful Kownacki came out throwing leather with bad intentions. At the tail end of round, Washington was shaken up by a right had to the chin. A lack of time allowed the American fighter to survive the round.
Washington would start round two the same way his opponent started the first round. However, he could not keep up the same pace due to lack of stamina. He shot off some good combinations, but could only do it for a few seconds before losing control of the bout again.
This would lead to the icing on the cake of a terrific performance by the Polish fighter. Hurt again by a right hand, Washington was sent reeling to the canvas.
He recovered, however, was still visibly hurt. With one more shot at giving it his all, Kownacki landed a few more unanswered shots that prompted the referee to waive off the bout!
Kownacki made it clear prior to the fight that if he won, he would like his shot at WBC champion Deontay Wilder. Sitting at #8 in the WBC rankings, there is a possibility he could get his opportunity soon!
