Lauren Price Calls For Unification After Stopping Bexcy Mateus
WBA welterweight champion Lauren Price (8-0, 2KO) brutalized top challenger Bexcy Mateus (7-1, 6KO) with ease. After the match, the champion made it clear she wanted a unification fight next.
Price was razor sharp from the opening bell with fast combination punches that put Mateus in defensive mode. Her footwork, hand speed, power, and ring IQ were levels above the challenger. Realizing the challenger was not on her level, Price kept coming forward and landed a hard left hand that put the Colombian on the canvas.
The fight continued, but it quickly turned into a one-sided beating as Mateus fought like a deer in headlights. Price landed several left hands before putting the challenger on the canvas again in the second round. She landed another punishing left hand that crumbled Mateus, forcing the referee to stop the fight.
Price won the WBA title after defeating former undisputed champion Jessica McCaskill. With this fight in the books, she wants a unification and quickly called for the winner of Natasha Jonas vs Ivana Habazin unification.
