O’Shaquie Foster Plans To Shine Against Abraham Nova

On February 16, O’Shaquie “Shock” Foster (21-2, 12 KOs) will make the second defense of the WBC junior lightweight belt against Abraham “Super” Nova (23-1, 16 KOs) at Madison Square Theater in New York City. The defending champion feels this fight has a personal edge and plans to win impressively and give Nova a beating.

MORE THAN READY

Shock won the title with a dominant win over previously undefeated Rey Vargas in February 2023. His first title defense was a thrilling come-from-behind twelfth-round stoppage over Eduardo Hernandez in October 2023.

Foster versus Nova is no accident. It was all part of the defending champion’s plan. Shock signed with Top Rank in November 2023, and Nova was at the top of the list when given the option of who he wanted to face in his debut fight with his new promotional company. Believing that Nova had previously avoided him, Shock said there’s extra incentive and motivation while speaking to the boxing media during the final pre-fight press conference.

“We’ve been calling for Nova for years; he knows it, but his excuse was my name wasn’t big enough. It’s funny how the tables turn, but we’re ready. I’m ready to go out there and put on a show.

I’ve been familiar with his style. We did everything in the gym. Come Friday night, I will be going out there and dominating and putting on a show.”

A TOUGH TASK AT HAND

Nova is a well-rounded boxer with a solid jab and right-hand power that can pose problems for the champion. Hernandez was able to lure the champion into a fire-fight. Super Nova wants to put some hurt on Shock and draw him into a similar type of trench warfare. Overall, this has the makings to be a highly competitive scrap.

Can Foster deliver up to his promise of putting on a commanding performance? The fighter with a clear chip on his shoulder is looking to accomplish just that on February 16.
