Linares tests positive for COVID-19
Former multi-weight world champion Jorge Linares (47-5, 29KOs) has tested positive for COVID-19, Teiken announced. Linares was on schedule to take on fellow top lightweight contender Javier Fortuna (35-2-1, 24KOs) for the WBC Diamond lightweight belt on August 28 in the main event of a Golden Boy Card on DAZN.
Reports claim that Linares, who showed no symptoms, tested asymptomatic. Under the advice of the doctors he will need to rest for ten days before taking a re-test. This is a huge blow for both men as a win would’ve pushed them closer to a world title opportunity.
