Vasiliy Lomachenko Puts George Kambosos on his Hit List!

After being the hunted, former unified lightweight champion Vasiliy “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko (15-2, 11KOs) is now the hunter. Lomachenko returns to the ring on December 11 against former IBF lightweight champion Richard “RC” Commey (30-3, 27KOs).

The Ukrainian fighter is eager to get the taste of the second career defeat out of his mouth. Running over Masayoshi Nakatani in nine rounds in June was not enough. Refreshed and recharged, the former champion has a new goal. That’s newly crowned unified lightweight champion George “Ferocious” Kambosos (20-0, 10KOs), who now has a huge target on his back. Since acquiring the WBO, WBA and IBF titles from Teofimo Lopez on November 27 in a major upset, he’s been a very wanted man.

Not only does WBC champion Devin Haney want to fight him, you also have Gervonta Davis, Tevin Farmer and now Lomachenko. Speaking with media ahead of his showdown with Commey, he expressed his newfound goal of getting Kambosos in the ring.

“Now we have George Kambosos. Now, he’s my goal, but first of all, Saturday night.”

Still one of boxing’s elite fighters, Lomachenko will have to handle business against Commey before he can proceed with aspirations of fighting Kambosos. Even with a win on December 11, the three-division world champion will have to wait and see how negotiations play out between Kambosos and Haney; who are already on record stating they intend to determine an undisputed lightweight champion in 2022.

Even if he doesn’t fight for a world title in his next fight, the lightweight division is loaded and there are plenty of solid fights to hold him over until another title opportunity presents itself. After a lengthy layoff, it’s good to see Lomachenko back in action.
