#LomaRigo: The Countdown Is On!

We are just one week away from the highly anticipated match up between Guillermo Rigondeaux and Vasyl Lomachenko. As the days inch closer, I find myself wondering how it will all play out. It’s a fight that literally anything can happen. With the ring IQ of these two fighters there’s just so many different scenarios that can play out. It’s gonna be a battle of the minds and who can execute the game plan better.

Rigondeaux tends to use his opponent’s offense against them but can he do enough to keep Lomachenko off him? Can Lomachenko maintain his high octane offensive wizardry while facing a defensive genius and sharp counterpuncher? Can Rigondeaux’s timing negate Lomachenko’s speed? Seems like more question than answers huh? Well, that’s because these are two great fighters that have had great success at the amateur and professional level.

Ultimately, certain things can’t and won’t change. Lomachenko is the younger and more athletic fighter but Rigondeaux in my opinion is the sharper puncher. Both fighters have excellent footwork, know how to keep their opponents turning and out of position. As noted Lomachenko is the more athletic fighter but Rigondeaux is the more technical fighter. So many different scenarios all in one fight!
