Teofimo Lopez Wants Eddie Hearn and DAZN Out Of Boxing
WBO junior welterweight champion “The Takeover” Teofimo Lopez (19-1, 13KO) has been taking shots at several people in boxing, with the latest target being Matchroom Boxing executive Eddie Hearn. The Takeover took to social media with a message insinuating that Hearn and DAZN will be out of boxing.
HOW THE BEEF STARTED
Lopez is not someone who is afraid to make controversial statements. He went viral on social media over recent comments about two-divisional undisputed champion Terence Crawford’s resume. So, fans aren’t surprised the WBO champion has hit back hard at Hearn over a comment that were made recently. He accused the British promoter of being a liar and a flake for saying the fight with Josh Taylor did not sell out.
Of course, the British promoter responded by calling the Brooklyn, New Yorker delusional, and his thought process being on another planet. Keep in mind this isn’t the first time he has had to deal with Lopez from a business standpoint.
HE WILL BE GLAD TO SEE THEM GO
By now, fans understand how this works. Lopez took to social media mocking Hearn with a declining chart line and clapping emoji after news hit of Dalton Smith versus Jose Zepeda.
DAZN has come under heavy scrutiny for a significant price increase and a change in their no Pay-Per-View moto. However, Lopez’s issue goes back to when he lost the unified titles to George Kambosos on DAZN in 2021. The Takeover blamed Hearn for the loss, along with insinuating a conspiracy was in place to help arch-rival Devin Haney snag the undisputed crown.
Agree or disagree with his antics of late, The Takeover is one of the top talented fighters in boxing. Yet, he must focus on the upcoming fight with Jamaine Ortiz, who is more than capable of winning.
Lopez needs to get off social media and heavily invest on preparing for the upcoming February 8 showdown live on ESPN.
