Montana Love thinks Rolando Romero is a horrible fighter
Super lightweight boxer Montana “Too Pretty” Love (16-0-1, 8 KO’s) is currently riding on cloud nine. In his last bout, against Ivan Baranchyk, Love claimed his most impressive scalp to date in a hometown thriller. Too Pretty followed that accomplishment up by signing a short-term promotional contract with Matchroom Boxing, which is helmed by Eddie Hearn. Naturally, Love is overjoyed when thinking about his short and long-term future in the sport. At the same time though, Love does look back from time to time.
When he does, one name that frequently comes to mind is Rolando “Rolly” Romero (14-0, 12 KO’s). Romero currently has an upcoming duel with regular WBA super lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (25-0, 24 KO’s) on December 5. Heading into the bout, Tank will enter as the overwhelming favorite to win, and to win by knockout. In fact, it’s almost an official industry joke for fighters to condemn and openly ridicule Rolly for his lackluster skillset.
BUM CITY!
There is no doubt that Love is among those pugilists that relish in giving Romero flack over his in-ring ability. While conducting a recent interview with IFL TV, Love briefly touched on his history with Romero while once again degrading the verbose boxer.
“The Tank and Rolly fight, I got Tank in that fight. Rolly is trash. I’ve been called him out, I been wanting to fight Rolly back then but he sucks, man! Tank, I am going with Tank for that fight, I think Tank will knock him out!”
UNKNOWN FUTURE
With Rolly about to go to war with Davis, it’s very unlikely that Rolly and Too Pretty will face one another any time soon. The only realistic way that this happens is if Romero manages to defeat Tank and opts to lock horns with Love. Given Tank’s high name value and drawing power, if Rolly beat him then he’d likely try to get another big name such as that. Unfortunately for him, and even as he himself has admitted, Too Pretty still has a good amount of brand building to do [hyperlink].
Although, there is a chance that Love would fight Rolly if he lost to Tank. There is little doubt that, with the way they talk, the Davis versus Romero bout will receive a great deal of attention. It would also be fair to assume it will obtain good viewership. If this is true, then Love might think it worth his while to dance with Romero coming off a lose so long as it was a well-received dustup. In the end we will just have to wait and see how this all unfolds. Yet, no matter what the outcome, 3kingsboxing will be here to report the news!
