Erickson Lubin and Terrell Gausha trade words on social media!
The usage of social media by fighters is at an all-time high since being under the COVID-19 quarantine. It seems as if there’s a new back and forth virtual warfare everyday.
The latest fighters to partake in such trash talk are junior middleweight contenders Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin (22-1, 16KOs) and Terrell Gausha (21-1-1, 10KOs)
A LITTLE REFRESHER
For those of you who don’t know or may have forgotten, these two were scheduled to face each other on October 26. However, Gausha would withdraw citing a hand injury. Lubin would go on to face Nathaniel Gallimore (21-4-1, 17KOs), winning by way of a unanimous decision.
WILL THEY SETTLE THEIR BEEF?
Both of these men have unsuccessfully challenged for world titles in the past and are eager to resume their pursuit of another world title opportunity. Although, it seems Lubin is in a much better position at the moment than Gausha in terms of the rankings.
Both men are ranked by the WBA, with Lubin at #4 and Gausha at #7. However, the big difference would be in the WBC rankings as the former is #1 and the latter is #22. Preceding Lubin in the rankings are names like Jarrett Hurd, Julian “J-Rock” Williams, Jessie Vargas, Tony Harrison, Kell Brook and Liam Williams. All former champions and all could potentially be the best win on his resume if he were to fight and defeat them.
Additionally, he is in a position where he could be mandated get revenge for his only loss in facing WBC champ Jermell Charlo again.
Therefore, it may only be a matter of time before their fight is rescheduled, but would it really be the best move for Lubin to entertain this match-up?
