Lubin Calls Out Bakhram Murtazaliev After Stopping Holmes Jr
Two-time junior middleweight title challenger Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin will get a third shot for a title against IBF champion Bakhram Murtazaliev.
The Hammer is coming off a lackluster victory performance against Ardreal “Bossman” Holmes Jr. on May 10. The fight was completely void of memorable action as both men pawed at each other with jabs. Realizing the taller Holmes wasn’t looking to engage, Lubin finally turned up the heat in round eleven.
He landed several hard shots that sent Holmes to the canvas. When the fight resumed, Lubin attacked with more hard shots before the referee jumped in to stop the fight. After winning the IBF title eliminator, Lubin issued a message to Murtazaliev in the post-fight interview:
“I’m fighting for the IBF title. Bakhram, stop hiding! You got until May 18. Let’s sign the deal and get it done.”
Murtazaliev is coming off an impressive stoppage against one-time WBO champion Tim Tszyu. The undefeated Russian champion is a good boxer with pop in both hands. In addition, he works well behind the jab and possesses solid footwork.
Lubin must bring his A-game if he wants to win the title, because this will be his last championship opportunity.
