Erickson Lubin to Collide with Jesus Ramos Next?

According to Fight Freaks Unite, super welterweight boxer Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin (25-2, 18 KO’s) will be making a quick turnaround. If all pans out, Lubin, who just fought Luis Arias on June 24, will face Jesus “Mono” Ramos (20-0, 16 KO’s) on September 30. Not only are the two going to be on the card, it’s forecasted that they will serve as the co-feature for Canelo versus Charlo.

In the duel with Arias, Lubin was able to slide back in the win column as he was coming off his second professional defeat at the hands of Sebastian Fundora. Armed with the win, The Hammer will now be granted a wonderful spot in the limelight during what is sure to be a very hyped and well advertised event.

Naturally, the heavy-handed Floridian will aim to make the most of the opportunity. Currently ranked #6 (WBC) and #9 (WBO), Lubin is a couple good wins away from working himself back to the front of the line. Yet, having come up short twice in very big fights, it’s a high likelihood that The Hammer will be focused and grounded going into this next rumble.

WHO’S THE MAN?!

Dissimilar to Lubin, native Arizonian Jesus Ramos has never tasted professional defeat and is coming off a solid win over Joey Spencer. Not only did Mono beat the once-hot prospect, Ramos battered, dropped and stopped Spencer in the seventh round of the prizefight. Now, ranked #3 (IBF), #4 (WBC), #5 (WBO) and #10 (WBA), Ramos will be looking for a great showing to make his case for a title shot.

For the past three years or so, Ramos has only signed contracts to face boxers with winning records, which seems to indicate his dedication to his craft and sport. Only time will tell, but on the outside looking in, Lubin should be the stiffest test of Mono’s five-year career, If he manages to defeat Lubin, and shines while doing so, Ramos would place himself in a very advantageous position.

A loss for either man, especially Lubin, would be acutely crippling. So for now, we’ll have to make sure that the bout is actually happening. If so, then we all will see if Ramos’s hunger and ferocity can overtake Lubin’s will and experience. In either case, 3Kings Boxing will be here to report the news!
