Angelo Leo KO’s Luis Lopez To Become a Two-Division Champion
In a candidate for Knockout of the Year, Angelo “El Chinito” Leo (25-1, 12KO) dethroned Luis “El Venado” Lopez (30-3, 17KO) for the IBF featherweight title.
These two didn’t waste any time and went on the attack. Inspired by fighting in front of the home crowd, Leo came out throwing hard righthands, momentarily stopping the champion’s momentum. Yet, El Venado came marching back with a flurry of shots and found a home for the uppercuts. In addition, he quickly adjusted by cranking up the volume with combination punches.
As the fight continued, Leo would charge out of the corner utilizing overhand rights and looking to attack the champion with hard body shots. However, Lopez would return fire with vicious body shots and kept landing a sneaky uppercut, taking advantage of Leo’s excessive aggression.
The non-stop, back-and-forth action had the crowd cheering and waiting in anticipation that something big was about to happen. In round ten, Leo landed a punishing left hook that flatlined Lopez. This victory made El Chinito a two-division champion, and he celebrated with the fans.
