Cesar Espinoza Claims Majority Decision Over Luis Rodriguez
In an upset win, super bantamweight Cesar Vaca Espinoza (17-1-1, 11 KO’s) defeated Luis “Zurdo” Rodriguez Ocana (15-1, 14 KO’s) by way of majority decision.
This bout in many respects was a case of ‘seen one round and you’ve seen them all’. From the first to final round, Espinoza used his nimble feet and vastly faster hands to circle around the ring, counterpunch and slip out of danger rather seamlessly. It was clear that Ocana, the hometown fighter, was frustrated with the tactics. However, he was either unwilling or unable to make any significant adjustments to change the dynamics of the match.
Admittedly, this was not the most entertaining duel, but Espinoza clearly did more than enough to earn the victory, which really should have been unanimous. Instead, he won a majority decision to the tune of 95-95, 97-94 and 98-92.
