Manny Pacquiao Announces He Will Take on Errol Spence Jr

In a somewhat shocking turn of events, the active legend Manny Pacquiao (62-7-2, 30 KO’s) will take on IBF and WBC world welterweight champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr (27-0, 21 KO’s) in his next assignment. The pay-per-view bout will take place on August 21 in Las Vegas, Nevada. As proof, an official poster was posted on Pac Man’s official Facebook and Instagram accounts.

For months now Pacquiao has been playing musical chairs with a number of potential opponents, including WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford, as well as former champions Danny Garcia and Mikey Garcia. He even entertained a bout with lightweight contender Ryan Garcia. Many did not think that Spence would get the call, thinking he was too “rough and tumble” a fight at this point in Pacquiao’s career.

Yet, obviously Pac Man has shown his heart and let it be known age will never be deterrent for him.

THE BEST FIGHT THE BEST!

Unfortunately this unification will not include the WBA belt Pac Man won off Keith Thurman in July 2019. He has been relegated to “champion in recess” while the title has been given to Yordenis Ugas. Yet, the win over Thurman was still a great win for the aging wonder.

By the same token, Spence is coming off a masterclass twelve round mauling of Danny Garcia. That victory was most notable as it was his first since recovering from his near fatal car accident. Many fans actually believed that after claiming the WBA title, Ugas was primed to be Spence’s next opponent.

While securing a fight with Pacquiao is a dream come true for any fighter, it is especially sweet for Spence because he can have one more accolade to dangle in the face of his divisional rival Terence Crawford! 3kings will be sure to continue reporting more details on this thrilling welterweight showdown!
