An injury forces Abner Mares to pullout of Gervonta Davis bout!

In some very unfortunate news 3kingsboxing.com has learned Abner Mares has withdrawn from his highly anticipated fight with WBA junior lightweight champion Gervonta Davis.

The multi-weight champion suffered an undisclosed injury that forced him to cancel his planned media workout on January 29. Sources close to his camp confirmed his withdrawal hours later.

The fight had been set to take place February 9 in Carson, California. Additionally, it was to air live on Showtime. Fans expected this to be a good one as tickets were nearly sold out!

Ultimately, Davis will still headline the February 9 card against featherweight Hugo Ruiz. Although enjoying a three-fight win streak, Ruiz is yet another fighter moving up to junior lightweight to fight Davis.

3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become available.
