Savannah Marshall to Fight for World Title

The wait is finally over. Undefeated amateur standout Savannah “Silent Assassin” Marshall (8-0, 6ko) will be facing WBO Light Heavyweight champion Geovana “The Shield Maiden” Peres (8-1, 1ko). British promoter Eddie Hearn let the cat out of the bag about Silent Assassin fighting for a title. However, nobody was expecting it to be in a division north of the super middleweight division.

Marshall has been waiting for a chance to get a title opportunity since turning pro back in 2017. The hard-punching female super middleweight will have her hands full with WBO champion. The Shield Maiden hasn’t lost a fight since her pro debut. Moreover, this will be her biggest test – facing an opponent with the skill set of the British female boxer.

Although both fighters have faced low-level opposition, Marshall has a higher degree of potential and will enjoy all the advantages in this fight. The height, reach, power, age and home-field advantage will be incredibly hard for the 43-year-old WBO champion to overcome.

INTERESTING FACTS

Peres will be fighting outside of her resident country of New Zealand for the first time in her career.

Marshall will be returning to the New Castle Arena for the second time. In the previous fight, she bulldozed over Ashleigh Curry in three rounds. In addition, she holds the WBA Inter-Continental super middleweight title.

This fight is scheduled to take place at the New Castle Arena on April 4.
