Kiko Martinez vs Marc Vidal II
There is a fight that will take place in Spain featuring former IBF Super-Bantamweight Champion Kiko Martinez (38-8-2, 28 KOs) against rival Marc Vidal (11-1-5, 5 KOs).
The first contest ended in a technical draw after a clash of heads opened up two brutal cuts on Vidal. This prompted the referee to put a halt to the bout after three rounds. To add more fuel to the fire, Vidal’s EBU European Featherweight title will be on the line again.
Martinez, a 32 year old fighter from Spain, has fought some of the top fighters in both the featherweight and super-bantamweight divisions.
The WBC #11 rated fighter has shared the ring with Josh Warrington, Leo Santa Cruz, Scott Quigg and Carl Frampton. This time, expect him not to leave it in the hands of the judges.
Vidal, a 30 year old Spanish boxer, is currently the EBU European featherweight champion, is fighting the biggest challenge of his career.
The WBC #14 rated fighter is hoping a rematch victory will finally move him up into the top 10. A career defining moment could also see him finally fight for a major minor title.
Martinez’s eight losses all took place outside of Spain. He is also a former EBU European Super-Bantamweight Champion.
Vidal has never fought outside of Spain and lost his first attempt at a title fight for the Spanish championship.
The first fight had everything back and fourth phone booth fighting, blood, and cuts. Let’s see what these two men will do the second time around.
This fight is scheduled to take place at the Fernando Martin de Fuenlabrada Pavilion, Madrid on September 28th.
