Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao 2 in Saudi Arabia?
I hope you all are ready for the highly anticipated rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao!
Ok, I’m kidding about the “high anticipation” part. However I am dead serious about the rematch happening as we expected when Pacquiao defeated Keith Thurman by split decision to win the WBA super world welterweight title.
What I find interesting is that in a social media video, Mayweather revealed he would be flying out to Saudi Arabia with his representatives to discuss staging the sequel in the Middle East.
In typical Mayweather fashion, money and spotlight is the major factor in this decision to likely un-retire and tangle with a familiar co-star.
After years of anticipation and back and forth throughout the media, a deal was struck where the two greatest fighters of the decade would finally meet.
Once the bell rang on that May 2, 2015 night, Mayweather and Pacquiao gave the fans everything but a night to remember. The former would cruise to a decisive unanimous decision victory while the latter claimed a shoulder injury as the cause for his lack of production.
That didn’t stop Pacquiao from desperately pursuing a rematch to no avail. However, on July 20, 2019 he would turn the clock back against a prime unbeaten champion in Keith Thurman; dropping him once en route to a split decision victory.
With that performance, people started to think maybe it was the shoulder of Pacquiao that prevented him from being competitive in the first bout.
Insert Mayweather looking to sell a storyline and Pacquiao looking…well…like the “Pacquiao of old” instead of the “old Pacquiao” we saw against Jeff Horn.
