Erica Annabella Farias will look to get her title back from Jessica McCaskill!
3kingsboxing has learned unified lightweight champion Jessica “CasKilla” McCaskill (7-2, 3KO) will be returning against a familiar foe former WBC champion Erica Anabella Farias (26-3, 10KO).
The 35-year old Chicago native will be putting both belts on the line in her second title defense. Since losing to then WBA lightweight champion Katie Taylor, the unified champion has been on a tear.
Neither of these woman warriors are strangers to each other and this time the rolls will be reversed.
Both are returning to the very scene where everything changed that fateful night in October 2018. McCaskill would rise to another level in front of the hometown fans and defeat the Argentinian fighter to capture her first title. The champion would fulfill her lifelong dream by winning the very competitive contest. Now not only are the roles reversed, but there is even more that’s at stake in the upcoming rematch.
The former WBC champion will be fighting for the first time since losing to the unified champion. Undoubtedly, she will be highly motivated, wanting nothing more than to get revenge. This will be her opportunity to rectify a fight that took place almost exactly one year ago in the same place and city were she left the building a few pounds lighter.
Both women laid it all on the line in their first meeting. Fans should expect no less the second time around. The rematch will be on the undercard of the heavyweight debut fight featuring undefeated fighters Oleksandr Uysk and Tyrone Sprong.
This bout is scheduled to take place at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago Illinois on October 12.
