Michael Angeletti Picks Up A Solid Win Over Geraldo Valdez
Undefeated bantamweight prospect Michael Angeletti (12-0, 7KO) remained perfect after defeating Geraldo “Rigondiaux” Valdez (16-2, 11KO).
Being the much taller fighter, Angeletti came out firing a hard, stiff jab followed up with a blistering right hand. This fight looked as if he was going to keep it simple with the jab while fighting at mid-range.
As the fight continued, he didn’t use the jab as much and allowed Rigondiaux to get in close. To his credit, Angeletti did a good job landing solid counterpunches and body shots. Yet, he should have used that height and reach advantage to make it an easier fight.
Angeletti finally used those legs and long arms to keep Valdez at bay. He began taking control of the fight with the jab and sharp combination punches.
Landing repeated body shots that hurt Valdez several times, Angeletti closed the fight with a strong showing. Once he used those natural attributes correctly, the Texas resident put a beating on the Dominican.
In the end, one judge scored it 97-93, and the other two scored it 98-92 for Angeletti.
