Michael Hunter Wants a Piece of Daniel Dubois!

In just a few short weeks, it will have been one full year since heavyweight boxer Michael “Bounty” Hunter (20-1-2, 14 KO’s) has competed in the ring. And without a doubt he is hungry for his next tour of duty! In that last assignment, Hunter fought to a split draw against Jerry Forrest. Now Bounty has his eyes locked on fellow heavyweight contender “Dynamite” Daniel Dubois (18-1, 17 KO’s).

If everything had gone according to the script, Hunter, ranked #1 (WBA) and #7 (WBO), would have gone to war with Hughie Fury (26-3, 15 KO’s) well back in July. Before they had a chance to trade leather in the ring, Fury would first pull out of the bout citing illness as his reasoning. Clearly, Bounty was not buying it as he has very vocally called Fury a liar ever since. Unfortunately for him however, he would never be able to replace that match with another one. Similar to Hunter, Fury has remained out of action for all of 2022 as well.

DYNAMITE OR DUD?

Despite expressing his desire to test his might versus Dubois, no matter how Dynamite feels about the match, Hunter will have a wait on his hands. This is due to Dubois already being scheduled to duel Kevin Lerena on December 3. Lerena will mark the fourth prizefight that Dubois, ranked #1 (WBO), has competed in since suffering his lone professional defeat to Joe Joyce back on November 28, 2020. All three of these matches have ended in knockout.

Provided that Dubois prevailed over Lerena, Dynamite versus Hunter would make for an interesting and very meaningful match. The winner would certainly be slathered in praise and advance themselves toward a title shot. The loser will be left to the bitter task of recouping from a plummet in the rankings. It will be revealing to see how Team Dubois respond to this call out as it seems that Hunter is not going to let the issue die.

For now though, all we can do is play the waiting game until Dubois responds or Hunter moves on to his next potential showdown. Luckily, 3Kings Boxing will be here to report all the latest developments.
