Tyson returning against Roy Jones Jr in 8 round exhibition
Mike Tyson (50-6, 44KOs), 54, is coming back to the ring! The former undisputed heavyweight champion hasn’t fought since his 2005 loss to Kevin McBride where he lost by sixth round stoppage. In his return, Tyson will be taking on fellow legend Roy Jones Jr (66-9, 47KOs).
The fight will be a eight round exhibition bout that will take place on September 12 at The Dignity Health Sports Park in California.
Tyson fueled speculation of a possible return by releasing footage of him in the gym hitting the mitts while looking in phenomenal shape. With this announcement, fans all over will be eagerly awaiting to see how the former champion, 15 years removed from the ring, will look. This isn’t expected to be your typical boxing match; expectations are that both men will wear 12oz gloves.
Jones, 51, is one of boxing’s all time greats. He is known for his tremendous speed, power and athleticism. Jones also won a heavyweight title defeating John Ruiz to win the WBA title in March of 2003.
Mark your calendars, as these two legends will cross paths in September! Kevin Iole of yahoo sports was the first to report the news.
