Garcia Promotions Cleared for July 7 Fight Card with Fans
Functioning as a boxer, former four-division champion Mikey Garcia (40-1, 30 KO’s) is currently without a fight date. However, as a promoter, the current welterweight contender has been assigned his next date as a promoter. When speaking to Fight Hype, the laid-back Californian recently revealed that Garcia Promotions was cleared by the Texas Athletic Commission for a July 25 show.
Even better, the event has been granted the ability to allow fight fans to watch the show live! It does not sound like the event will be televised. However, tying such a significant boxing name such as Mikey Garcia to a live event with fans is still a huge deal. Provided that the fight card is executed without incident, it’s a no-brainer that many more promoters will try to follow suit.
“We got approved by Texas Commission, they gave us a green light to do our show. Garcia Promotions will be back at the Southern Junction night club in Irving, Texas this month, July 25. We have a nice stacked card, we have I think seven bouts, I believe.”
“We are allowed to bring fans, which is pretty damn cool because in this time right now with this whole COVID situation, pandemic, it’s kind of hard to get certain things! But we were able to get approval for limited seating, you know, half the capacity. And also we are taking precautions. We are obviously doing the necessary measures to keep everybody as safe as we can. Masks will be required, checking temperature and stuff like that to keep everybody as safe as possible. But we are selling tickets, they are on-line.”
