Bobirzhan Mominov gets his first shot at a title
3kingsboxing has learned that undefeated welterweight prospect Bobirzhan Mominov (8-0, 7KOs) will compete in a minor title contest against Junjesie Ibgos (13-3, 11KOs).
Mominov (26) from Kazakhstan, is taking a big risk in a step up bout against a heavy handed puncher.
Regardless, it’s a risk that is worth the reward. A victory followed with winning a title could result in being ranked inside the top 15.
This will also mark the fifth time this year the young prospect has fought, winning his last three bouts via knockout.
Ibgos (24) out of the Philippines, is no stranger to taking a risk. He competed within multiple weight divisions but mostly fighting in his home country.
He is a solid puncher that shouldn’t be taken lightly.
Boasting an advantage in experience, he will be looking to pressure the Kazakh fighter and dictate the pace. A victory could see his career take a boost while winning a title in his second attempt.
INTERESTING FACTS
Mominov has only fought once in his native country of Kazakhstan prior to this fight.
In addition, this will be the second southpaw fighter he has faced as a professional.
Ibgos fought outside of the Philippines twice against opponents with winning records but lost both bouts.
This fight is scheduled to take place in Aktjubinsk, Kazakhstan on September 15.
