Ryota Murata-Jeff Horn in December?

3kingsboxing.com has learned that a deal is in place for WBA regular middleweight champion Ryota Murata to defend his title against former WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn in December. That’s dependent on Horn defeating Michael Zerafa on August 31. This is all according to Bob Arum, who stated the winner of Murata-Horn would face Rob Brant.

Murata successfully reclaimed the WBA regular title back on July 12 when he destroyed Rob Brant in two rounds in their rematch. This news doesn’t come as much of a surprise due to Horn’s open willingness to fight between 147 and 160.

Horn is coming off a first-round destruction of country mate and former world champion Anthony Mundine in November 2018.

A Murata-Horn fight definitely has some intrigue. Both guys are vulnerable, and have shown a willingness to stand in the pocket and fight. This fight will be a true 50-50 fight. Will the skill of Murata be too much for the tough, but limited Horn, or will the physicality and ruggedness of Horn be too much?

If Horn wins on August 31, we’ll get our answer in December!

3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
