After dabbling in street crime, and a short jail stint, in his native Philadelphia neighborhood Richardson was able to refocus his life on boxing. Once submerged in the sweet science, “Brotha Naazim”, as he was often called, became an effective and memorable chief second.

Although he was able to instruct a great many fighters, his most famous charges would have to include Steve “USS” Cunningham, “Sugar” Shane Mosley and Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins. Richardson also will go down in boxing lore for catching Antonio “El Tornadao de Tijuana” Margarito’s loaded hand wraps in his 2009 prizefight against Shame Mosley.

In 2007, Richardson suffered a stroke which temporarily left him unable to walk or talk. Yet, through hard work and grit, Brotha Naazim was able to battle back and resume his role training boxers. At the present time, it is not known what ultimately caused his demise.
