Naoya Inoue Facing his Greatest Threat in Murodjon Akhmadaliev
Next up for undisputed junior featherweight champion Naoya “Monster” Inoue (30-0, 27KOs) is a September showdown against the WBA interim champion, Murodjon “MJ” Akhmadaliev (13-1, 10 KOs). It’s a fight that Inoue is in real danger of losing.
Inoue gave the boxing world thrills during his most recent outing – an eighth-round stoppage victory over Ramon Cardenas in Las Vegas. However, the 32-year-old could be showing some growing cracks in his armor.
A one-time unified champion, Akhmadaliev has the skill, speed, footwork, and power to give the undisputed champion fits. He must be salivating to fight Inoue after witnessing Cardenas score with power shots and a knockdown against him. MJ has established himself as Inoue’s biggest current threat at 122. The Uzbekistani champion is more than capable of dethroning one of the elite boxers in the world.
