Natasha Jonas Looks To Fight Lauren Price After Habazin Victory
IBF welterweight champion Natasha Jonas (16-2-1, 9KO) walked away with Ivana Habazin’s (23-6, 7KO) WBC title by unanimous decision. She is now looking toward a possible unification showdown against WBA champion Lauren Price.
Jonas attacked the body early in the fight to halt Habazin’s aggressiveness. Despite fighting off the backfoot, she landed several countershots before moving out of the way to avoid any return-fire.
Habazin tried to mount some offense with a few good punches but kept getting caught with those hard counter-shots. In round four, she was almost knocked down from a hard right hook while trying to switch stances.
As the fight continued, Jonas controlled the pace with repeated body shots and counterpunches. She was landing at will, taking advantage of Habazin’s lack of head movement.
In the final rounds, Jonas never let off the gas pedal and showed off her superior boxing skills. When the fight was over, the judges scored it 100-90, 99-92, and 99-91, for Jonas.
Now a unified champion, everyone wanted to know what’s next. Right on cue, Price entered the ring. The two could meet in a major unification in 2025. As the two women went back and forth with verbal jabs, Jonas issued a warning to Price:
“Careful what you wish for.”
