Injury forces Scott Quigg to pull out of his bout with Jayson Velez!

Former WBA super bantamweight champion Scott Quigg is pulling out of the upcoming fight against Jayson Velez after suffering a serious injury.

The 30 year-old UK fighter was looking to make another run at a world title in a new division. He took to social media to inform the boxing community of this regrettable news.

“Absolutely gutted to inform everyone I will not be fighting on the 26th April in Los Angeles as planned.

“Training had been going fantastic and everything was well on schedule but in my final week of heavy preparation before tapering down I suffered an injury during sparring Monday 15th April.

“A freak accident where I hit my sparring partner with a left hook and my elbow jarred & the tendon ripped clean off my bicep & elbow.

“I went straight to see a specialist and had scans which confirmed the damage of what I’d felt and will need surgery to re-attach my tendon.

“Which will be done this coming Tuesday by the specialist! Gutted isn’t the word I’m absolutely devastated after all the work and training me & my team have put in this camp and also with being so close to the fight.

“Thank you all for the messages of support and once the operation is done I will start the rehabilitation process and I will make a full recovery and continue my career.”

Quigg, was making his first ring-appearance this year. Also, he and IBF champion Tevin Farmer engaged in a verbal back-and-forth recently. This injury could see him out for a very good portion of the year.

We here at 3kingsboxing.com wish the former champion have a successful surgery and recovery.
