Jackie Nava will look to get her revenge ten years later against Marcela Acuna!
Mexican female boxing great and former unified super bantamweight champion, Jackie Nava (35-4-3, 16KO), will square off in a rematch against Argentine IBF champion Marcela Eliana Acuna (49-7-1, 20KO) on May 25 in Puerto Vallarta.
Ten years ago in April 2009, the then WBC champion, Acuna made her second title defense when she bested Nava by unanimous decision in Argentina. Now 42 years-old, the Argentine won the vacant IBF title back in 2018, although, this bout will not be for a title defense.
The well-accomplished champion has title reigns in multiple divisions and a career spanning over two decades. Her notable fights were against former champions Christy Martin and Lucia Rijker.
Since losing to Acuna, the 39 year-old fighter from Mexico has been one of the standard barriers for women’s boxing with a career spanning almost two decades; earning titles across multiple divisions along the way.
After taking almost a two-year layoff, the former champion has been actively fighting and looking toward a possible dream fight against fellow Mexican great and WBC bantamweight champion Mariana Juarez.
Nava will have the hometown advantage in the rematch. The former champion will undoubtedly be amped-up in front of the crowd while looking to exact revenge!
