Emanuel Navarrete Stops Francisco De Vaca in 3!

Looking to make the second defense of his WBO super bantamweight title, Emanuel Navarrete would have to do so against an unbeaten and hungry Francisco De Vaca.

In round one, both men came out throwing hard shots. However, it was evident that in order for De Vaca to pull off the upset, he would have to fight the perfect fight. While he landed some nice shots, they clearly didn’t faze Navarrete (evidenced by only having six knockouts in 20 fights).

The champion would easily walk De Vaca down and invite him to trade.

Rounds two and three were all the champion. He scored a knockdown in round two in the final seconds with a big right hand.

The conclusion would come in round three as Navarrete would unload hard shots that had commentator Tim Bradley yelling that the fight needed to be stopped!

After seeing the challenger take unnecessary punishment, the referee would jump in and stop the fight.

Just like that, it was over via a third-round knockout. Navarrete, who continues to improve, is an awkward and powerful puncher with a bright future.

Bob Arum confirmed the champion will return on the under-card of Tyson Fury vs Otto Wallin on September 14, which is Mexican Independence weekend.

Hopefully we can see him face some of the fellow champions in his division sooner rather than later. As he’s said his days at super bantamweight are coming to an end, as he’s growing out of the division.

However, I seriously doubt with less than a one-month turn-around to prepare for his return, he will face a major threat for his third title defense.
