In the fifth defense of his WBO super featherweight title, the exciting Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete (40-2-1, 32 KO’s) narrowly defeated Charly Suarez (18-1, 10 KO’s) by technical decision. Ultimately the bout was stopped prematurely due to a ghastly cut over Navarrete’s left eye.

When asked what his next move was going to be Vaquero was only concerned with sealing the cut and giving it time to heal. Naturally the fans wanted to hear more about his fight intentions. This is because due to his physical size, and exciting style, Navarrete has interesting options at both super featherweight and lightweight.

Yet, before anyone else can jump in the picture, there is a strong possibility that Suarez could get another crack at the champ. When Suarez and Vaquero were fighting, the cut that ended the bout was ruled and treated as if it was caused by a headbutt. In the aftermath of the action however, it was revealed that the cut was caused by a punch.

“Well, first we are going to recover the cut that we have in the eyebrow, but I felt good, I felt strong, I felt complete, we just need to adjust a few things. But obviously, we are going to take things calmly, make a decision and see if we want to stay at 130 or try again at 135 pounds.”

Naturally, Team Suarez will want to appeal the official ruling. Obviously, there is no telling at this point if Team Suarez follows through with this course or action. Nor do we know what would happen if they did. So, for the foreseeable future we will just have to sit tight and see how this one plays out!
