Deon Nicholson feels he knocks out Joe Smith Jr and Artur Beterbiev!
Former WBA Cruiserweight contender Deon “Equalizer” Nicholson (14-1, 13KOs), who is preparing to drop down to the light heavyweight division, made a bold statement regarding two of the divisions champions! Nicholson was asked by 3kingsboxing.com about how potential fights with unified IBF and WBC champion Artur Beterbiev and WBO champion Joe Smith Jr would go. The Alabama native did not hesitate to declare he would lay both men out!
“I’m guaranteeing I’ll put any of those guys out. I’ll be a big light heavyweight, also. I’ll be a big light heavyweight.”
“Yeah, put them on notice.”
That is a major declaration from a fighter who is coming off of his first loss, which happened to be by knockout. However, given his power, demonstrated by the thirteen knockouts in fifteen career fights, his prediction may not be as off as people may think. As Nicholson stated, he will be a big light heavyweight. Undoubtedly, those guys are big too. However, anything can happen when you put two bona fide power punchers in the ring together.

Nicholson has yet to make his official debut at light heavyweight. Although, all eyes will be on him once he does so. It will be interesting to see how he fares on a more even playing field in a weight class he will be more comfortable in.
Regardless of what people may feel, Equalizer showed he can handle adversity in his loss to Efetobor Apochi back in April. While he may have lost by knockout, Nicholson showed heart in getting up and continuing to try and win their WBA Cruiserweight title eliminator.
